AB - Matrimonial adjustment is one of the most important ethical functions of the family that plays a vital role in life satisfaction, preservation and consolidation of the long-term relationships. A variety of factors play a role in shaping the matrimonial adjustment. The present study aimed to compare the cognitive perspective in psychology and Islam so as to determine the role of belief in the evolution of existence and resurrection in matrimonial adjustment by employing an analytic deductive method. Although the ontological and resurrectionist view of Islam makes every Muslim's attitudes and behaviors different from humanistic perspectives, the necessity for sustaining this view in life to transform the existing capacities into desirable patterns is to create attitudinal adaptations or ethical meditations and commitments in the belief that leads to an ability for self-transcendence. This skill, in turn, enables one to have the ability to adapt and the ability to have a healthy and peaceful relationship with their spouse even in inevitable conditions of suffering in order to actualize the matrimonial adjustment by generating a feeling of valuableness in them.
