The theory of “rationality and spirituality” is considered one of the most important projects of spiritualism. This theory seeks to achieve inner satisfaction, peace, and reduce human pain and suffering. In this theory, the characteristics of the spiritual man are expressed in accordance with the components of the modern world. "Aversion to suffering" and "emotionalism" are among the characteristics of the spiritual man considered by Mustafa Malekian in this theory. The spiritual man in this theory is introduced as a suffering-averse person who seeks his inner satisfaction in eliminating and warding off suffering and emotionalism. The present research seeks to examine and critically read, through library studies and a descriptive-analytical method, the basis of the spiritual man's aversion to suffering and his emotionalism in the spiritualist theory of rationality and spirituality. The most important criticisms include: emotionalism as a result of humanistic individualism and secularism, the relativism of morality and spirituality, the possibility of controlling non-cognitive factors in the search for knowledge, the flaw in emotionalism's argument, and the lack of attention this theory pays to the truth of mystical and divine human-creating suffering.
